Walk with friends in Grunewald forest in Berlin, 27 September 2017. Days earlier, Daniela had received the news that there were new metastases in her brain, and there was no longer a prospect of being cured.

In the part of her image archive covering years 2016 and 2017, Daniela did not make a selection of photos, but she had selected some folders that she apparently wanted to include. This image is from one of those folders.

"Alive" is the last, incomplete work by Daniela Swarowsky who died of breast cancer in the morning of 1 June 2019.
